Artist Statement 2013
I create paintings that reinvent my drawings. My process involves using techniques of layering and collage. I depict space that is a representation and extension of my hand. I source inspiration from traveling, museums, galleries, public art, films and music. My family and everyday life experiences informs the type of work I create.

In my paintings I reference photographs I have taken on my travels as
an armature for my paint handling. I use these photographs along withmy recent memories of them to create abstract landscapes that areimportant to me. Landscape is a subject matter that I enjoy exploringbecause it gives me a format to experiment with paint while creatingdepth through scale, composition, color and texture.
